Stealth update to Legacy system

Tuesday saw what was billed as a routine scheduled maintence to Star Wars the Old Republic. Yet a glance at the patch notes afterwards reveals a number of unheralded updates, including one that was quite major, under the Legacy system (that links together characters on the same account):

  • The Legacy Levels required for experience modifier perks have been adjusted. The ranks now require Legacy Level 2/3/5/7/10 (changed from 5/10/15/20/25)
  • The Legacy Levels required for companion modifier perks have been adjusted. The ranks now require Legacy Level 2/5/8 (changed from 5/10/15).
  • The Capital World and Outlaw’s Den priority transit perks now require Legacy Level 2 (previously 10).
  • The Fleet Vanguard and Black Hole priority transit perks now require Legacy Level 5 (previously 10).
  • The Legacy Levels required for the repair droid perks have been adjusted. The ranks now require Legacy Level 5/8/12 (changed from 10/15/25).
  • The field respec perk now require Legacy Level 5 (previously 10).

Adding Legacy points is about all you can do in the game once you reach level 50 (except start a new character), and a few people who have worked hard to max out their Legacy have complained because their hard work has gone for nothing. You get more for less Legacy now.

I disagree. I have found Legacy points very hard to accumulate, and it is nice that the perks are now more accessible. The only drawback is that you have to spend in-game credits to activate the various perks, and these can be VERY expensive.

So, a little step forward in a very flawed game, that offers little to those who have reached the top level.
